After working with soy for several years we were happy with our product. Soy wax is a great alternative to paraffin (petroleum based wax) it burns cleaner and is considered sustainable. However, over the past few years, soy wax has been becoming increasingly inconsistent. Making it hard to have a quality product. We began our search for an alternative wax that had to hold up to several of our core criteria.
Trying to meet these criteria led us down the journey of testing many waxes. Ultimately we found the perfect (to us) wax. A coconut/vegetable wax blend. This blend is made from a sustainable crop using a natural process. It burns slowly (slower than soy) and cleanly. The scent throw is amazing, much stronger than soy wax. This was a no-brainer for us to switch from soy to coconut wax. We feel that coconut wax is the most eco-friendly, clean burning, highest quality wax on the market and we proudly hand pour all of our candles with it.
I know this sounds like a silly question….you light it? However here are some guidelines to ensure you are getting the most out of your candle.
After the first initial burn, ALWAYS trim your wick to 1/4 inch before re-lighting it. You can use these wick trimmers. They make trimming your candle easy and mess free. A finger pinch or scissors work fine too. An untrimmed wick will burn much quicker (wasting your candle) and produce a larger than normal, or even an unsafe flame. Never leave wick clippings or matches in your candle.
On your first burn make sure you give your candle enough time to reach its full melt pool (all sides of the candle are completely melted). Be patient this can take up to three hours. This will ensure your candle will burn evenly for future burns, and you are using all of that luxurious coconut wax.
Our recommended burn time is 3-4 hours.
Burn on an even surface away from drafts. Never burn your candle unattended, and keep out of reach from children and pets.
Our candles will be warm after burning them for several hours, please don’t touch until they have cooled off completely.
Of course! We love repurposing our jars for future use. After you have burned your candle down and you have 1/4 inch wax remaining, pop it into the freezer for 10 minutes. Once you retrieve it from the freezer use a knife to pop the wax out and the wick. If there is any remaining wax, hot water and soap will remove it. A little rubbing alcohol can help too! Our signature collection glasses are cocktail tumblers, so they look perfect with a fine drink in them, and our amber jars have housed many a small plant or Q-tip. Get creative, the possibilities are endless!
